Glamping in Cornwall

Glamping in Cornwall

As summer approaches, the evenings get lighter and the days warmer, thoughts are turning to the next camping trip. As an affordable way of getting away whilst getting back to nature, camping trips have only grown in popularity among the British public in recent years, the only drawback being the lack of home comforts.

Yet this needn’t be the case. Glamping is more than just the latest buzzword; it is quickly becoming the new camping, offering a bit of added comfort for the experienced camper and even convincing a few novices to give it a try.

Here we list some of the best glamping gadgets and camping equipment to make your next Cornwall holiday park stay even more luxurious.

Stay charged

In this digital modern world we find ourselves lost without technology or, at the very least, our smartphone. From finding the best nearby restaurant to reminding your neighbour to pop round to feed the fish, being without your phone is just sometimes not an option.

Thankfully, running out of power can be a thing of the past with the latest glamping gadgets from BioLite. This great American company develops and manufactures advanced energy products that make cooking with wood as clean, safe and easy as contemporary fuels and methods. While you cook they also produce electricity to charge mobile phones and LED lights when alternative power methods aren’t available. The BioLite CampStove, available from Whitby & Co, is one of our favourites. Complete with grill and kettle pot, you can cook an English breakfast or make a cup of tea whilst charging your phone. It works by burning natural fuels and converts heat to electricity via a thermo-electric generator – clever!

Morning drinks

Perhaps one of the downsides of traditional camping trips might be that you can’t have your speciality coffee just as you like it, but as the glamping trend takes off in such a huge way, we are seeing an increasing range of portable superior coffee alternatives.

Growers Cup is a fantastic company that makes it possible to have a “decent cup of coffee without machines or special brewing equipment”, as said by Innovator and Managing Director Ulrik Skovgaard Rasmussen. Their ingenious Coffeebrewer combines the great taste of a French Press coffee with the simplicity and ease of instant. Just open, pour in hot water, and let it brew for two to four minutes before pouring out your perfect morning brew.

For those who still prefer the taste of freshly brewed coffee the Esbit stainless steel coffee maker from Dalesman offers a great glamping solution. Esbit also has a great range of camping equipment that makes the whole process that bit easier and more comfortable; from their coffee and tea makers to their foldable BBQs and cooksets, cooking outside can be the enjoyable experience it was always meant to be.

Packing space is always restricted on a camping trip and no one knows that better than Cotswold Outdoor. Not only do they have an extensive section specifically dedicated to glamping, they also have a great range of products to suit such needs, including their recommendation of the Outwell Collaps Kettle that ensures you never have to leave the kettle at home. Perfect for tea lovers as well as coffee drinkers, and not forgetting the hot chocolate fans too!

Evening drinks

From classy morning coffees to sophisticated evening drinks, who says wine needs to be sipped out of a melamine mug when you’re sleeping in a tent?

The ultimate gadget shop RED5 has a fantastic range of outdoor gadgets that make glamping in style completely possible. The pop up wine glass is a favourite of ours that ensures that those plastic cups and tea-stained mugs can stay at home. Not to feel left out, they also have a similarly fantastic glamping accessory for the pint drinker in the form of the Pocket pint. Both vessels fold up small enough to be packed away easily when not in use, but are stylish enough to make your wine or ale taste as it should.

Get a good night’s sleep

Perhaps one of the most notorious issues that sway many from trying the great experience that is camping is the issue of not sleeping in a bed. But in the age of glamping popularity, this need be a worry no more.

The Therm-a-rest EvoLite self-inflating mattress available from Ellis Brigham not only gives you a comfortable night’s sleep, but it also requires none of that painstaking foot pumping that comes with a traditional blow up mattress, with just a few breaths needed for the mattress to reach your optimum firmness. You can then sleep soundly, and stylishly, in an adult sleeping bag from Anorak and available from The Glamping Company, just choose from the two patterns – Kissing Stags or Kissing Rabbits – N’awr!

Not a fan of the fact that you have to sleep confined to a single sleeping bag? Cotswold Outdoor also have this covered in the form of the Vango Harmony Double Sleeping Bag. Stretch out or share, it’s completely up to you.

Want to the finish the look? No tent quite beats that of the designs from Field Candy. Choose from leopard print, watermelon, a big top circus tent pattern, book motif or cheese, complete with mouse, among many others. You’ll never struggle to find your pitch again!

Alternatively, the SoulPad 5000-Hybrid Tent recommended by Cotswold Outdoor offers that glamping tipi feel whilst ensuring that you’re not going to have any leaks or loose poles!
