Caribbean fish in breeding programme at Newquay aquarium
An aquarium in Newquay has welcomed a colourful new arrival from the Caribbean, sporting a somewhat familiar name.
The Blue Reef Aquarium is undertaking a breeding programme involving the Blue Reef chromis in a bid to understand more about their breeding habits.
It is the first time the popular tourist attraction has been able to display its namesake fish species to the public and curator Matt Slater said the bright blue beauty was settling in well to the spotlight.
“At the moment we have nine individuals which are now making themselves at home in one of our coral reef displays alongside a group of clownfish’ he said.
Capable of reaching up to six inches long, the stunning coral reef conqueror joins a host of exciting sea life in one of Britain’s most popular seaside resorts. Should you be enjoying a relaxing sojourn at one the fine Cornwall holiday park locations, be sure to drop in and check it out.
