Cornwall could have its own Bank Holiday

It has been reported in the news that Cornwall councillors are requested the government to create public holiday in Cornwall for the Patron Saint of tin miners, St Piran.

The local council have asked the government if the public holiday could replace the existing one that is held for May Day.

This isn’t the first time it has been proposed as a public holiday, as Cornish MP Dan Rogerson previously appealed for it in 2006, hopefully this time the plan will go ahead.

St Piran’s Day occurs on March 5th every year and sees communities all around Cornwall host celebrations to mark the occasion. This is a great time of the year to head on Cornwall holidays as you can see some of the fantastic celebrations first hand which are sure to be even bigger and better if a public holiday is granted.
