Cornwall has some of the UK’s least rainfall

Those looking at the possibility of taking their holidays in Cornwall this year have just been given another reason to book up. According to official Met Office statistics, parts of West Cornwall saw less rainfall than any other area in the UK throughout 2011.

When compared to average levels of rainfall from the years 1971 to 2000, the region – and the Lizard Peninsula in particular – recorded around 65% of the national average’s wet weather. Analysis also shows that West Cornwall enjoyed an especially dry autumn and spring seasons. These figures are even more interesting when looked at alongside those of some areas in the north of England and Scotland, which saw as much as 35% more rainfall on average.

Traditionally enjoying some of the country’s mildest and driest weather, Cornwall is the perfect place to enjoy a family holiday. With stunning beaches and magnificent countryside set beneath blue skies, Cornwall holidays have always been the perfect getaway.
