Duchy of Cornwall introduces metal detecting fee
Plans to introduce a charge for metal detecting on the foreshore of Duchy of Cornwall beaches have upset enthusiasts.
Whilst the charge is not ideal, the estate has previously not allowed metal detecting on these areas before, so it is a step forward and opens up opportunities for treasure hunters.
The plans are still in early stages, but if they go ahead, enthusiasts will have to pay an annual fee of £60. For those holiday makers heading to Cornwall, the estate plans to introduce a £20 permit that will last two weeks.
The Duchy of Cornwall estate has various foreshore locations around Cornwall, which are ideal to visit when staying at our Cornwall holiday park if you are a budding treasure hunter and have brought your metal detector on holiday. Keep an eye out for news on whether the permits are introduced and the land is opened up for metal detectors.
