Music festival in Cornwall to mark Olympic countdown
Fans of music in Devon and Cornwall are counting down to a spectacular festival this spring, which will mark a nationwide countdown to the London Olympics.
The Sound of the South West Festival is set to take place at the Plymouth Pavilions and areas around the region on 3 and 4 March and will welcome several leading acts in the music industry as well as smaller, local events.
It is part of a nationwide countdown to the London 2012 festival and will feature Devon born folk musician Seth Lakeman, the BBC Concert Orchestra and the 200-strong Devon and Cornwall Family Orchestras and Choruses, who will all play at the Plymouth Pavilions on 3 March. The 4 March will see groups and choirs showcasing their talent from ‘sunrise to sunset’ around other smaller communities in Cornwall and Devon.
It will mark an exciting time for the area in the build up to the biggest sporting event in the world. If you can’t wait for the Olympic ceremonies to begin, then this event could be the ideal excuse to bring your family along and enjoy one of the fantastic caravan holidays in the region.
