Princess Anne helps mark 50th anniversary of Cornwall bridge
The Tamar Bridge received a royal visit from Princess Anne to help mark its 50th anniversary year.
The Royal Marine Band welcomed Princess Anne to the bridge, before taking a tour and meeting local construction workers and dignitaries.
Construction of the bridge began in 1959 and was unveiled by the Queen Mother on 26 April 1962.
A road that carries more than 40,000 vehicles per day and a link between Devon and Cornwall, the bridge offers spectacular views of the Tamar Valley and Tamar Lynne, locations recognised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
It has provided holiday makers in cars and caravans a perfect route to get to the county, and is often a landmark to look out for after a long journey in the car whilst giving a tantalising taster of what to expect.
If you fancy a trip across The Tamar Bridge, why not book a fabulous Cornwall holiday park, an ideal vacation for the whole family.
