Ship artefacts to go on display in Cornwall

A country park in Cornwall will host some artefacts from a ship that sank off the Cornish coast over two hundred years ago, once £41,000 has been financed.

Mount Edgcumbe House, a Grade II listed building, will display items from The Metta Catharina, which was downed in 1786, providing the project cost is met.

Contributions from a lottery grant, Friends of Mount Edgcumbe, the Metta Catharina Trust and Mount Edgcumbe have all helped fund the exhibition.

Some of the artefacts retrieved from the wreckage included calf hides, glassware, wine carriers, clay tobacco pipes and shoe buckles.

The country house can be located near Torpoint, on the south-east coast of Cornwall. Why don’t you tie a holiday in with a visit to this beautiful landmark and exhibition and book one of our many caravan holidays we have on offer? It is the perfect base to enjoy a break away from the hustle and bustle of life.
