Financial boost for Cornwall festival
The Polperro Music and Arts Festival has received a huge boost ahead of its eagerly anticipated return this summer, with the announcement that they have been awarded £2,250 from the Big Lottery Fund.
Entering its 17th year, the event is fast becoming one of the major attractions of the county’s festival calendar, going from strength to strength since its inception.
Rob Springett, festival chairman, believes the award represents hard work put in by the local community and volunteers. He said: “This year’s festival is the 17th in a row and takes a lot of dedication and planning from volunteers but can be very rewarding. If community groups and charities can share the workload and work together and help each other, then it benefits all concerned”.
The money will be spent on a “new state-of-the-art village public address system, according to Springett, because “our old one has seen better days”.
Running from 16 – 23 June, the festival is the perfect accompaniment to your Cornwall holidays this summer, as we reported in December.
