Cornwall’s top kids attractions

One is never wanting for fun things to do in Cornwall. The county known for its pasties, coasts and wildlife, is replete with choices. But just what are the best attractions for kids in the area? What places will the children best enjoy themselves in this fine part of the world?

Well, let’s answer that question. Here are Cornwall’s Top Kids Attractions.

Flambards

If you are looking for a fun family day out with a whole host of activities to amuse the kids, then look no further than Flambards.

This adventure park has plenty for everyone and is bound to excite the young ones. With outdoor rides that include a Log Flume, rollercoaster, Go Karts, carousels and a model space ship for the kids to operate — you can spend all day in the sun.

The park also includes a bevy of indoor attractions, like a trip to a Victorian Village and the wondrous Britain in the Blitz – the very first indoor UK attraction of its kind, opened in 1984 — the indoor exhibition is a fascinating re-creation of war-time London.

We reached out to Flambards who had the following to say about the joys of their attraction:

“Flambards Theme Park, Helston, Cornwall is a great family fun day out with plenty of things to do! Brave the sky high thrill rides, or enjoy the undercover soft play area. Discover dinosaurs in the Jurassic Journey and uncover fossils in the Dino Dig. Step back in time in the life-size Victorian Village and experience Britain in the Blitz in the award winning Indoor Attractions. As well as a whole host of daily entertainment during school holidays, including the Firework Spectaculars!”

Flambards is both educational and fun, with more activities and adventures than you will know what to do with. All bound to keep the kids thoroughly entertained.

Flambards is suitable for all ages.

Pirate’s Quest

Kids will love Pirate’s Quest, an immersive experience allowing you to embark on a pirate like adventure.

Part of your Pirate’s Quest’s journey will see you escaping from shipwrecks, trekking through caves and eventually arriving at the Captain’s Ship itself, finally ready to set sail and live the pirate’s life.

Situated in the historic Newquay theatre, this is a truly unique theatrical experience for kids and parents to enjoy. There are scares to be had for the brave, such as facing the Locker of Davey Jones, while there’s also a safe path to take for those that are feeling a little more cautious.

Pirate’s Quest are also excited about a new storyline developed for 2017 and had the following to say on the subject:

“A brand new storyline for 2017 will see visitors transported back over 300 years to the dawn of The Golden Age of Piracy in the hope of escaping the Pirate Hunters! Armed with a special treasure map, go on the hunt for clues to discover some treasure of your own”.

While having swashbuckling fun there is also opportunity to learn a little about the history and legends of the area from the various pirates encountered on your adventure

Pirate’s quest is suitable for ages 4+

Eden Project

The world famous Eden Project — a top family destination allowing you to experience nature to the fullest — is as worthy an entry as any on this list.

Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the jungle while walking through the world’s largest greenhouse. This signature Cornwall attraction will transport you all over the world to places like Malaysia, West Africa and South America.

This marvellous project also contains a Warm Temperate Biome which showcases the environs of the Mediterranean, South Africa and California while providing you a chance to learn about the various plant life – from ordinary to bizarre – that you might come across.

Beyond the educational, there are numerous play areas for the kids to enjoy; spaces that included mazes, sand pits and a climbable wooden ship. England’s longest zip wire is also located here along with ice skating during the winter months.

The Eden Project is truly a marvellous attraction for kids and the entire family. Not one to miss. The Eden Project is suitable for all ages.

Lappa Valley Steam Railway

There aren’t many children that haven’t been fascinated with trains at some point, and if yours is one of them taking a trip to Lappa Valley Steam Railway is a perfect choice.

Situated in the heart of Cornwall, Lappa Valley offers a truly wonderful day of activities all for the price of a single train ticket.

There is a canoeing lake, crazy golf, a toddler’s maze, play areas with football nets and climbing frames, scenic nature trails, and indoor play carriages containing slides, table football and toys. All of this and more without even mentioning the myriad of train engines populating the park.

We spoke to the fine people of Lappa Valley and they told us what makes their destination such a wonderful kids day out.

“The whole family including the dog can get involved in a day of great fun. Having been open over 40 years Lappa Valley sees generation after generation returning to enjoy the ever popular traditional style family fun on offer. Lappa Valley Steam Railway is the perfect destination to bring children who want to enjoy a day of traditional family fun and make memories that will last a lifetime”

Lappa Valley is without doubt a wonderful day for the family and perfect for the holidays as the park holds various events throughout the year including Easter and Halloween themed activities.

Lappa Valley is suitable for all ages.

Adrenalin Quarry

“Adrenalin Quarry pushes the boundaries of what’s possible” – Adrenalin Quarry

If the kids are looking for a few thrills during their time in Cornwall, then heading on down to Adrenalin Quarry is an absolute must.

Located not far from the Cornwall holiday parks in Looe, Adrenalin Quarry really is the perfect thrill seekers destination. Offering a 490m zip wire accessed by jumping off a cliff at 40mph, ‘The Zip’ is constructed with twin parallel wires across the depths of an old flooded quarry.

Adrenalin Quarry also includes a pretty terrifying giant swing, where a winch pulls you slowly upward until releasing you in an accelerated moment of exhilaration. Apparently the swings first customer was five years old so perhaps one shouldn’t feel too scared about the proposition…

Along with axe throwing, which starts at 12 years old, Adrenalin Quarry have summed up to us what else is on offer.

“Go Wild Swimming for free in the lake right next to our massive lawn, with hot pasties, cake and Ice cream ready anytime in reception. Lay on a family BBQ with one phone call (just book and collect everything from us, right down to the matches!) Throwing people off cliffs since 2009, the Adrenalin Quarry team will take care of all of you!”

Adrenalin Quarry is suitable for all ages.
