Sams On The Beach, Polkerris
If you’re in Polkerris, you can’t pass up an opportunity to dine at Sams On The Beach.
If your children love boats, they’ll be interested to know that the building used to be the RNLI lifeboat station, and so is situated only metres away from the slipway. One side of the building is just glass windows (which they lose completely during the summer!) so you can take in the breath-taking views of the seas while enjoying some freshly prepared dishes.
Food wise, the restaurant has its own custom-built wood-fire pizza oven. If that’s not to you or your children’s fancy, Sam’s is famous for its freshly caught seafood. If you prefer to share, there’s plenty of antipasti to go around too.

The Cornerstone, Looe
A 50’s style American diner, The Cornerstone offers everything from maple syrup pancakes for breakfast to a chilli dog or rodeo burger for dinner. For the kids, there’s a choice of fried chicken, a classic hotdog, fish goujons and burgers.
If your little ones have a sweet tooth, the dessert menu is to die for, as you can build your own from a choice of waffles, sundaes and pancakes with a bucket load of sweet and chocolatey toppings. They also offer ‘Thick Shakes’ – a classic American style milkshake made with ice cream, as well as ‘Candy Bar Shakes’.

The Waymarker, Trewardreva (Constantine)
The Waymarker is a family owned rural restaurant in the picturesque North Helford area between Penryn and Gweek.
Co-owner Rhiannon Mann loves welcoming families through the Waymarker’s doors, and takes pride in offering one of the best family-friendly restaurants in Cornwall. “We have an enclosed area adjacent to our terrace to form a children’s outside play zone, complete with a Wendy house and other activities to occupy youngsters.
“We also have a year-round pagoda marquee, which covers a seated part of the nearby terrace to provide shelter from the weather while still enabling parents to observe the independent play while enjoying a coffee. Indoors we provide puzzles, games and toys or even drawing materials that entertain children to create a friendly ambience in which the whole family can enjoy a relaxed meal.”
When it comes to food, Rhiannon says they offer dishes suited for all tastes and sizes. “Our drinks menu features organic squash choices, milk, fruit juices or kids-sized milkshakes. The food menu offers smaller freshly prepared “comfort classics” meals options suitable for children.”

Coddy Shack, Looe
You can’t visit Cornwall without stopping by the best fish & chip restaurant around! The Coddy Shack isn’t just good for grabbing a takeaway on your way back from the beach, but it’s also a lively venue where you can sit and enjoy a range of locally sourced speciality dishes (and of course cod and chips!).
In the evenings, the Coddy Shack has live music to entertain and turns into a bar and social scene, which is great fun for all the family, particularly if you have more grown-up children. If you’ve brought your pooch on holiday too, the Coddy Shack also welcomes dogs.
Menu wise, there’s plenty of dishes on offer for kids! Choose between scampi, battered cod, pork sausages, chicken nuggets, cod fishcakes and ham – all of which come with Coddy Shack’s signature chips.
Zafiros, Truro
If you and your family find yourself visiting Truro, a stop at Zafiros for a coffee and a bite to eat is definitely recommended. By day, Zafiros is a family-friendly restaurant and by night, the venue turns into a bar with a popular social scene amongst the locals.
